Abstract

Introduction:

Over the past three decades, obesity rates in the United States have doubled among adults and tripled amongst children. According to a Los Angeles County Public Health report, overweight and obesity cases account for 3.43 billion dollars annually of county expenses. Despite all this capital being spent on obesity, preventative plans, obesity rates continue to rise. The most affected areas in Los Angeles County are Compton, La Puente, and East Los Angeles. This is where most African American and Latino communities reside. Of the obese population in LA County, Latinos make up the largest percentage with 29.4% .
