"W" with plastic balls

We have not been able to find any information regarding this device, which consists of 4 metal wire arms with dark plastic (?) balls at the joints and on the two free ends. A multifilament thread connects the two cervical end joints and is tied in a loop, leaving approximately an inch of free tails.
