Injection-molded polypropylene homopolymer with barium sulfate added for radiopacity formed in the '7'. The cross arm is connected to the stem with a rounded cap. 200mm2 of electrolytic copper wire is wrapped around stem. Nylon thread attached to cervical stem end cap. The Copper 7 received FDA approval in 1974. Outside the United States, the device was distributed under the name Gravigard.
