Contrangle began as jr. nasdad CONTRA-ANGLE in November, 1959. When the National Association of Seventh-day Adventist Dentists was organized, provision was made for students to become junior members. It was also hoped that Junior NASDAD would serve as a satisfactory substitute for fraternities, as it was felt that the national dental fraternities did not support the College of Medical Evangelists “Philosophy of Education” to develop men and women who readily identified themselves with a redemptive approach to the world’s needs.
At its beginning, jr. nasdad CONTRA-ANGLE was published bimonthly by the Junior chapter of the National Association of Seventh-day Adventist Dentist at the CME Press in Loma Linda, California. This Junior NASDAD chapter would soon become the Dental Students Association, Student Chapter, and by volume 2, number 1 (Sept 1960) we see the masthead has changed to “d.s.a. CONTRANGLE.” By 1978 the masthead merely reads “CONTRANGLE”
