The Dr. George M. Austin Neurology Research Collection
George M. Austin MD, 1916-2002
Neurosurgeon, Neuroscientist, Professor, Mathematician, Researcher and Author.
He strived to use his extensive medical training, research, teaching skills, and knowledge of mathematics and physics to elucidate neurological and neurovascular events. He was known for the development of novel surgical techniques, instruments, diagnostic methods, and treatment options. Dr. George Austin was passionately committed to identifying a patient’s neurological condition and implementing a treatment plan. He often worked with personally trained teams in the application of his protocols for the benefit of his patients. At his death, he was the only living scientist to have a non-linear differential equation named after him. The Austin Equation, subsequently proven by Dr. Jane Cronin of Rutgers University, described hemodynamics through a saccular aneurysm.
